Knee Replacement in Tijuana: What US Patients Should Know

Every year, many patients from Southern California cross the border for orthopedic surgery. If you’re considering a knee replacement in Tijuana, this guide explains how the process works with Dr. Zarur, step by step.

Step 1: a remote review of your case

Before you travel, you can send your X-rays or MRI. Dr. Zarur reviews them and tells you whether a knee replacement is the right option, or whether other treatments may still help.

Step 2: a clear plan and cost

You receive a written treatment plan with the full cost and possible dates, so you can decide with all the information in hand.

Step 3: travel and surgery

The Tijuana office is at Core Medical & Surgery Center, a short drive from the San Ysidro border crossing. Most patients walk with support the day after surgery.

How long should I stay?

It depends on your recovery, but patients usually stay several days after surgery before driving or flying home. Dr. Zarur will tell you when it’s safe to travel.

Follow-up from home

Once you’re back in the US, follow-up continues by video call, and we coordinate with your local physical therapist.

What to bring

  • A valid passport or passport card to return to the US
  • Your recent X-rays, MRI and medical reports
  • A list of your medications
  • A companion for the first days, if possible

Travel times and costs vary by case. Contact Dr. Zarur’s team for a personalized plan.
